I Thought it was Fake

As a watcher of 30 Rock, I always assumed that Liz Lemon's home town of Whitehaven, Pennsylvania was fake, a commentary on white flight or the banality of the suburbs. Well, I was wrong.

Turns out there is an actual town of White Haven, located not that far from Wilkes-Barre. Between the location and the size (fewer than 1200 people, making it unlikely to have a high school that Liz could attend a reunion for), I'm guessing it's a coincidence. But I would really like Tina Fey to address this. Here. In an exclusive. Call me!

So Maybe I'll Watch the Emmys Now?

So, as usual, I didn't bother with the Emmys, and of course they had to go crazy this year and appear to use merit when giving out the awards. So much for my rant about the Emmy love affair with Boston Legal. I could start a rant about their love for 30 Rock, except that it's fave of mine, too.

OK, I did see a few minutes of the awards during a break in football, and caught the tail end of Josh Groban's theme song medley (which I'll have to YouTube), Laura Linney's speech after she won for John Adams (liked the snarky plug for community organizers at the end), and the Laugh-In bit (which was Rob Lowe sings with Sleeping Beauty levels of awful). I can't say I'm sorry to have not watched the show in its entirety.
